Cat#2 Chase Blatman
A COLOURFUL LIFE Acrylic on Canvas 94 cm w x 124 cm h NFS Artist’s Statement When you think of Anna Blatman, the well-known Melbourne-based Artist, you might envision her broad palette knife strokes, or her bold and bright colour palette. When I think of her, I’m thinking of my Mother. She was my inaugural muse for the Archibald; one who embodies resilience like no other. Amazingly, painting has been her colourful companion through it all, including enduring the loss of her husband of 18 years last year. Despite everything, she has never stopped making other people’s lives full of colour. This painting is a homage to our creative connection. Mum’s unofficial slogan has always been, “May your life be full of Colour”, so when it came to naming the piece, and given the significance of this past year, I saw no more fitting title, “A Colourful Life”. |
