INTO DREAMLAND Watercolour 20 w x 28 h cm NFS Artist’s Statement At this time, I had been trying to paint Megan, so my paints and paper were out when I found my 6-year old son asleep and looking so angelic and perfectly posed, that I took the opportunity to paint him. The light was poor but adequate and amazingly, he didn’t move or wake until after I’d finished. It was very exciting to capture this moment and I love having this painting of that special time. It is a fun challenge to do a portrait, not only are the colours and nuances of the watercolour medium so different to landscape painting, but the interaction with the sitter can be a really important and enjoyable part of the project. |
