MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE 2019
Its Art & Soul
How do you capture the essence of Melbourne - from the urban culture of inner-city laneways and street side cafes, to the crowds of football fans at the MCG, to the fashionistas coming out to play at the Spring Racing Carnival? Melbourne is a city of vibrant diversity where the chic, the rambunctious and the downright quirky sit side-by-side.
MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE - Its Art & Soul, an invitational, curated exhibition does just that! It brings together artworks by prominent Victorian artists, celebrating this rich and diverse culture through an eclectic collection of paintings, prints, drawings & photographs, representing Melbourne’s uniqueness and well-loved icons - the essence of the City.
“MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE “ was a popular way to describe the city in the 1880s, when the gold rush propelled a burst of growth and development that seemed to herald the birth of a new world city. Since then, the streets have blossomed into a vibrant, bustling hive of art, sport and culture that have earned Melbourne the reputation as Australia’s most liveable city.
Sophisticated, grungy and playful all at once, Melbourne thrives on a strong creative pulse, and each artist in this exhibition has captured a distinct part of the city’s cultural fabric.
If you need a reminder of how lively, unique and beautiful this city really is,
MARVELLOUS MELBOURNE - Its Art and Soul does the trick!
