BECAUSE Mixed Media including Oil, 9K Gold Leaf and Acrylic on Canvas 102 cm w x 83 cm h NFS Artist’s Statement This self-portrait entry is the first of a series of portraits designed to highlight the many portraits and images I have painted, the complexity of the portraits, and the journey of painting those portraits – 2 portraits are owned by the Shrine in Melbourne, one by the Canberra Defense Force Academy, another by Melbourne couture designer Sam Oglia Loro. “Because”. The title, represents my experience as a portrait artist and the randomness of the choice of portrait subjects whom all make a collage of significant Australians I have met and had the opportunity to briefly share a moment in their lives. |
