THE FREETHINKER Acrylic on Canvas 80 cm h x 80 cm w $3,500 Artist’s Statement Maggie Millar and I met a few years ago sharing out love of drawing and painting. I asked her permission to paint her portrait. I thought she was a very colourful actress. After spending the day with me in my studio, her drawing me and me drawing her, this portrait was produced. She told me she was one of the Freethinkers so I painted her in deep thought. She was please with the result. This portrait was submitted for the 2018 Archibald Prize. click on artwork to enlarge |
