ANDY'S 70th PAINTING Oil on Board 45 cm w x 35 cm h NFS Artist’s Statement This portrait of my husband “Andy” was made for his 70th birthday. I was wanting to capture his very laid-back, VERY AUSSIE personality; a relaxed story of Andy resting and considering his waterfall and garden. I designed the piece to use as the invitation to his birthday party, a party for his many friends. Andy was born in Rhodesia and came to Australia when he was 5 years old. The invitation read: “ONCE A JOLLY POACHER RESTED BY HIS WATERFALL, ON HIS HILLSIDE GARDEN IN THE PATCH, ANDY SANG AS HE WATCHED AND WAITED ‘TIL HIS BEERS COOLED DOWN, “Y’ALL COME A TWISTING MTWETWE, WITH ME”. “TWISTING MTWETWE, TWISTING MTWETWE, Y’ALL COME A TWISTING MTWETWE WITH ME”. ANDY SANG, AS HE SAT AND SURVEYED HIS ROCKY POND BELOW, “Y’ALL COME A DRINKING AT MY 70TH WITH ME”. |
