FARMER'S DAUGHTER Acrylic & Plastic on Canvas 61 cm w x 61 cm h $1,180 Artist’s Statement One hot summer, I started painting with a friend, in our underwear, in my brother's farm shed. Despite hilarious encounters with huntsman spiders, rats chewing on our paint pods and curious cows wondering what the hell we were doing, we managed to paint enough good work for a Gallery Exhibition. We’ve been painting ever since. Farming has been in my family for generations. I follow their ethos, resilience, community spirit and connection to land in all my endeavours. The freedom to give things a go and not give up, is our common trait. True organic Family farming is dying, as it is throughout the world. Multinationals are stealing our farms for next to nothing and will further control pricing, what you eat and with it, your health and our ethos. I’m tired, but not defeated. I am a farmer’s daughter! |
