JUST ANOTHER DAY AT THE OFFICE - BOB STARKIE oil on Linen 120 cm h x 85 cm w $25,000 Artist’s Statement My subject Bob Starkie, is part of the iconic Australian bank Skyhooks who took the 1970s Australian rock scene by storm. I chose to paint Bob in costume which he still performs in to this day, the frilled-neck lizard jacket and high platform shoes, with a gold leaf background to symbolize his gold stage curtain. ‘Just another day at the office’ was the title Bob came up with for the painting, and I think it is a perfect fit. I met Bob while campaigning to save Point Nepean as a National Park. Bob organized a free concert with Skyhooksmembers, Daddy Cool, James Reyne and a few other legends. It was a gathering point for supporters to come together and solidify as an action group. Thousands of people came along to sign up for campaign support duties. It was a game changer.
