POWER OF THE RAINBOW. MIA SEES WITHIN Acrylic on Linen 102 cm w x 76 cm h NFS Artist’s Statement I was privileged to paint Mia an incredible Melbourne-based Photographer I first encountered during her inspiring talk at Creative Mornings in Brunswick. The idea of creating a portrait of a portrait photographer immediately intrigued me. We meet in a café and later in her home studio to explore how best to capture her essence. The final work is a portrait in three! Juxtaposing Mia in black and white against her vivid photographic work of Helen Garner and Magda Szubanski. This contrast reflects how her energy flows into her images, illuminating presence behind the lens. |
