UNTITLED Graphite on Canvas 182 cm w x 121 cm h $4,500 Artist’s Statement My practice involves the utilization of graphite on raw, stretched canvas, depicting realistic renditions of both found imagery from pornography, manipulated free-to-use imagery and personal photographs in order to create a visual narrative exploring communication, interpretation, context and intimacy. Through depicting the subtleties of human expression, my work has a heavy focus on juxtaposing candid and staged images to explore the subconscious ability humans have to detect false depictions of genuine scenarios, as well as investigating whether the isolation of an image and subsequent re-contextualization can change its narrative. |
