BILLY DOOLAN - LOST IN DREAMTIME THOUGHTS
Oil on Linen
126 cm h x 96 vm w
$5,000

Artist’s Statement
I spent time with Billy Doolan when I curated an exhibition of his. He is a painter and woodcarver who has been painting professionally since 1976. He is often lost in deep thought reflecting on how his art may be able to influence our attitude to our planet. A passionate environmentalist, he has stated that ” I paint to share with people my dismay and frustration at what destruction people inflict on Mother Earth”.

My concept for this painting came from our conversations which influenced both the pose and the background alluding to his totem and mother/family.

This portrait was submitted for the Doug Moran Prize and was a Finalist in the Percival Prize and Salon des Refusés Brisbane Portrait Prize.
