ASKING FOR TRUTH, Dr Helen Haines MP Oil on Linen 95 cm high x 65 cm wide $5,000 Artist’s Statement Dr. Helen Haines is the Independent Federal politician for the Indi electorate, becoming the first independent in Australian history to succeed another independent. Born in country Victoria, she trained as a registered nurse and midwife and became a Director of Nursing. She completed a Masters Degree in epidemiology and public health before attaining a doctoral degree in medical science in Stockholm. In Parliament, she is a staunch advocate for climate change and a Federal Independent Commission against corruption. As we were discussing all these issues, I felt this pose epitomised her sincerity in working to achieve those goals. |
