Artist’s Statement
Senex is a portrait of my Father in his mid-nineties. Born in 1915, he lived through the Great Depression and believed strongly that everyone should contribute to their community.

After gaining a cheesemaking Diploma from Hawkesbury College, he worked in the dairy industry until retirement. He was tireless in his support for the local community as a Justice of the Peace, Rotarian and Chairman of the local Technical School Council.

A great believer in education he was instrumental in getting a new Technical school built and was honoured by having its library named after him.
